Electroplated Tools
EISEN Electroplated Tools
Electroplated tools are grinding tools in which diamond (or CBN) particles are single-layer electroplated onto base materials such as steel or carbide. Unlike multi-layered grinding stones such as vitrified or resinoid types, electroplated tools have a higher protrusion of diamond particles on the surface, providing excellent sharpness. This allows for the efficient and precise processing of challenging materials such as ceramics, hard alloys, and quenched steel. Moreover, by returning used electroplated tools to our company, the base materials can be recycled through re-electroplating, offering an environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution. At Eisen, we manufacture electroplated tools internally, from base material fabrication to electroplating processes. This integrated approach enables us to achieve an impressive lead time of just 7 hours, providing a quick and efficient solution for our customers.
Processing with Electroplated Tools
Hole finishing of quartz (SiO₂) by electrodeposition reaming for brittle materials.
Used tool: IRC Φ6 #200
Machine: machining centre
Chucking run-out: 2 μm than less
Cutting oil: water-soluble cutting oil (external lubrication)
Cycle: drill cycle
Peripheral speed: 100 m/min
Feed: 3 mm/min
Electroplated reamer for high-precision hole finishing of brittle materials such as ceramics and quartz. The unique micro-truing process enables hole finishing in one pass. Good diameter accuracy, roundness, cylindricity and surface roughness can be achieved. As long as the run-out accuracy during chucking is maintained, it is not a particularly difficult process and can be easily and continuously machined to a dimensionally stable pre-mirror finish.
It has been introduced in the machining of parts for semiconductor manufacturing equipment and in the medical machinery and automotive industries.
Fine hole drilling of quartz (SiO₂) with electroplated oil hole drills for deep holes
Used tool: IHL Φ3 #120
Machine: machining centre
Cutting oil: Water-soluble cutting oil (internal lubrication)
Number of revolutions: 2000 rpm
Feed : 1 mm/min
This tool is ideal for deep drilling small-diameter deep holes in brittle materials such as ceramics and quartz. As the base material is made of cemented carbide, deep hole drilling with good straightness is possible. It can be used on machines with an internal lubrication mechanism, and good straightness can be achieved in non-step machining.
It has been introduced in the machining of parts for semiconductor manufacturing equipment and in the medical machinery industry.
Fine-hole drilling of alumina (Al₂O₃) with oil-hole-type straight-blade electrodeposition drills
Used tool: IH Φ2.6 #100
Machine: machining centre
Cutting fluid: water-soluble cutting oil (internal lubrication)
Cycle: drill cycle
Number of revolutions: 7000 rpm
Feed: 20 mm/min
The IH series is an electroplated drill with a uniquely designed structure for efficient cooling and chip evacuation, which dramatically improves the tool life machining speed compared to conventional electroplated drills. It can be used on machines with an internal lubrication system and is capable of drilling more than 1000 holes at high speed in non-step machining.
It has been introduced in the machining of parts for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, the medical machinery industry, the automotive industry and the optical equipment industry.
